Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information The Institute Trader (“I”, “me”) collects through theinstitutetrader.com, why I collect it, and what you can do about it. I aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What I collect

When you join my newsletter or register interest in a course

• Your email address.
• Your first name, if you choose to give it.
• Which page you signed up from, which I use to decide which emails are relevant to you.
• Whether you ticked the box saying you have already completed a trading course, so I can skip the course emails.

When you email me

• Your email address, name and anything you choose to include in your message.

When you browse the website

• Usage data, such as which pages are visited, how long you stay, the referring website, the type of device, the approximate location (country and city) and which buttons or links are clicked. This is collected with Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies, and Google Analytics, which uses cookies and a randomly generated identifier. Neither tells me who you are.

I do not ask for, and do not want, financial details, account numbers or identity documents.

How I use it

• To send you the newsletter and the emails you signed up for.
• To let you know when a course you registered interest in launches.
• To reply to your questions.
• To understand which pages are useful, so I can improve the website.

I do not sell or rent your personal information. I do not use it for any purpose you would not reasonably expect.

Email signups

Newsletter and course-interest signups are handled by MailerLite, my email provider. You are added to my list as soon as you sign up, and you will receive a welcome email.

Every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can unsubscribe at any time, and you will stop receiving emails from me.

Who else handles your information

I use a small number of service providers to run the website and the newsletter:

• MailerLite stores newsletter subscribers and sends my emails.
• Vercel hosts the website and provides cookie-free analytics.
• Google Analytics measures how the website is used.
• Google (Gmail) handles email sent to theinstitutetrader@gmail.com.

These providers may store information on servers outside Australia. They handle it under their own privacy policies and security practices.

Cookies and embedded content

This website does not use advertising cookies. It uses Google Analytics cookies to understand how the site is used, such as which pages are visited and for how long. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

YouTube videos on the site only load from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain when you click to play them. Once a video plays, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies.

Links to other websites

This website links to other websites, including ITPM through my affiliate links. When you click through, that website’s privacy policy and cookies apply. ITPM may use cookies to record that you arrived through my affiliate link, so that I can receive a commission. I do not receive your personal or payment details from ITPM.

Keeping your information secure

I take reasonable steps to protect the personal information I hold from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. I keep it only for as long as I need it for the purposes above, or until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it.

Your choices

You can ask me to:

• Tell you what personal information I hold about you.
• Correct it if it is wrong.
• Delete it.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how I have handled your personal information, email me first and I will do my best to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
